Description

It's no surprise that the big races like the Tour de France are won in the mountains. That is where the fittest, fastest climbers can put the maximum time on the competition and create the time gaps necessary to ensure victory.

A big part of Team Jumbo-Visma's plan in 2023 was to ensure that Jonas Vingegaard had the lightest bike possible. So it should come as no surprise that Jonas outfitted his Cervelo R5 with a Reserve tubular wheelset, the 36|39. This wheelset provided the perfect balance between weight, stability and aerodynamics, allowing Team JV to secure consecutive TDF victories.

Note: Tubular wheels like the Reserve 36|39 require tubular tires that are glued to the rim during the installation process. Tubeless or tube-style tires are not compatible with the Reserve 36|39.

FAQ

What is the maximum pressure for your rims?

Road rims: 100 psi (6.9 bar). Gravel rims: 80 psi (5.5 bar).

Always defer to the tyre manufacturer's stated maximum if it is lower than the rim's — the lower of the two figures is the one to run.

Can you build me a wheelset if I send you my hubs? Do you sell rim-only?

Yes. We offer a full wheelbuilding service at Legend Bikes — send us your hubs, or choose hubs with us, and our workshop will build them to your Reserve rims. We also sell rim-only options if you'd prefer to have the wheels built elsewhere. Get in touch and we'll talk through spoke count, lacing and hub compatibility for your bike.

Where can I find more tech spec information?

The full technical specification for this wheel — ERD, rim widths, spoke count, hub spacing, freehub and rotor options — is listed in the Details section further down this page. If you need a figure that isn't there, contact us and we'll get it for you.
